I did like this piece and how the syncopation gave the impression of a near constant, fluid motion. I liked the use of c major as the contrast to the other minor chords since it's not the most obvious choice when g minor opens the first phrase! It was nice. Like I said, a constant flow of music, until the coda where a bit of contrast comes in; almost a stand-still compared to the earlier rhythms, as if something was impeding the other melodies' rhythms. However, right at the end, the rhythmic flow begins once again, as if an image of Japan itself continuing after a great standstill that impeded it. I'm not sure if that's what you intended, but I think that it gives great effect. The rhythmic change there in the first half of the coda was striking to me just because of that reason. I liked this a lot. I felt that there were some really great programmatic features hidden within the context. Excellent work!
