Since its formation in 1953, the Rutgers Wind Ensemble has established itself as one of the leading wind bands in the United States. The ensemble presents concerts at the highest artistic level, performing both masterworks of the wind repertoire and new works, including pieces composed expressly for the group. Each of the selections on this recording of wind music by American composers refers, in one way or another, to a relationship with the divine. While most of the selections refer to personal traditions and heritages, those heritages vary greatly; proof that the United States is still as much of a melting pot as it ever was.
