In earlier musical forms, the verses would use a simple motif repeated for each verse. In this setting, variety is in each verse to closely match the word rhythms. One can perform it in many different ways. by assigning verses to the Sopranos and Altos, Tenors and Basses, Sopranos and Tenors, Altos and Basses, vocal soloists, or the full chorus.
