As a result, he became familiar with the popular ""alla zingarese"", or Gypsy music, usually associated with Hungarian folk music. He must have liked this music, since in 1869 he wrote twenty-one Piano duets in this style. Hungarian Dance No 5 has become particularly well known, as it is one of three dances that Brahms later orchestrated. Although there are no contrasting slow sections, the sudden changes of tempo and the overall style are consistent with âromantic tavern musicâ, for example, Montiâs Czardas.
