Ein Jahr vor dem grossen Trio in B-Dur fur Violine, Viola und Violoncello vom September 1817 arbeitete Schubert bereits an einem Streichtrio, ebenfalls in der Tonart B-Dur. Im September 1816 vollendete er den Allegro-Satz. Das darauffolgende Andante sostenuto ist als Fragment uberliefert. Die 39 Takte des Autographs wurden in der vorliegenden Ausgabe behutsam zu einem Satzganzen vervollstandigt.
