Plectrum Guitar Etudes is a recording of the etudes composed for my book Short Etudes for Guitar. WBM02. I began playing guitar while listening to my father, Mel Bay, performing wonderful classical pieces on his D'Angelico archtop guitar. So at an early age I heard the beautiful possibilities of the guitar played with a pick. While these etudes are brief, they contain many music moods and textures. They are all recordedon a steel string acoustic guitar. I believe the plectrum guitar has much potential as a concert instrument and these compositions were written to provide material for study and performance with that in mind. These 27 short etudes were composed to provide music suitable for study or the concert stage. The etudes present a colorful palette of moods and musical textures. They incorporate various picking techniques and lush harmonies. They are extremely useful in developing tone and a lyrical feeling to one's style. I feel that these etudes will work well as concert preludes or encores or may be played in groups to create more extended performance repertoire. They are guitaristic and highlight the beauty of the plectrum guitar style. In notation and tablature.
